Kids can turn it into an investigation by using water at different temperatures and arranging the Skittles in different ways.

Create a rainbow On a sunny day, using just a hose. All you have to do is stand with your back to the sun, spray the hose and a rainbow will appear in the drops!

Colorful potions
Baking soda and vinegar potions can be made colorful by adding food coloring or using Red cabbage indicatorThe purple cabbage indicator is especially fun to use as it changes color depending on whether an acid (vinegar) or alkali (baking soda) is added.
Adding a little dish soap creates an extra foamy potion.

Blue water contains salt, which makes it denser than orange water, which contains no salt. The denser liquid stays at the bottom and does not mix with the less dense liquid on top. If the glasses were placed with the salt water on top, it would sink to the bottom and the colors would mix.

White flowers can be colored by placing them in a vase with colored water. The colored water runs up the stem to the white petals, filling them with color.
This is a great science activity for demonstrating perspiration.
