10 outdoor science activities for summer

Summer is a great time to get outside, play, explore and learn at the same time. I often find that if I prepare some outdoor science experiments, My kids keep coming back to them over a period of weeks or days, each adding their own twist to the activity.

Here are 10 of my favorites Outdoor science experiments!

Plush zipline

We have been installing ziplines in our garden for weeks now. Children can experiment with using different materials for the zipline, changing the slope, designing different harnesses and using different shapes and sizes of passengers.

Giant Oobleck Tray

This Giant oobleck tray It's so much fun! All you need is a large tray, a fair amount of corn flour and a little water. Kids can try to run over the dough before sinking.

Be careful with this one because the surface can be slippery.

Fruit boats

These fruit boats These are super easy to make and so much fun to use at a water table. Kids can use lemons, limes, melons, and any other fruit they fancy trying.

Take a trip into the woods to find out. How tall is a tree?While there, have the children look for animal tracks and listen for animal sounds.

Build a clay kitchen

Challenge children to create their own clay kitchen using wooden planks or even a cardboard box. Once the kitchen is ready, the children can make effervescent potions or just mud pies!

Straw shooters are great as kids can theme them whatever they want. We've made rocket, astronaut, spider and even Santa themed shooters before. They're also a great way to Learn about aerodynamics.

Create a wall of water

Walls of water They are so much fun and actually very easy to put together. You just need a little bit of plastic tubeFunnels, buckets and something to hold it!

Splash patterns

This fun The splatter pattern activity is incredibly messy. Drop paint filled balloons and watch the splash pattern they make when they hit a white sheet of paper.

Painting with syringe It's also great fun on a sunny day. Fill syringes with paint and shoot them at a leaf hanging on the fence or a large sheet of paper.
