The State of California today announced a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence education initiative with NVIDIA.

Public-private partnership supports the state's workforce training and economic development goals by providing California's universities, community colleges, and adult education programs with the resources to acquire skills in Generative AI.

“AI will continue to become more advanced and more prominent across all sectors, and California has a responsibility to support and prepare our students and educators,” said California Government Operations Agency Secretary Amy Tong. “As a global leader in AI computing, NVIDIA is a natural partner to prepare the future of California’s workforce.”

Through this initiative, California educators can earn certification through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador Programthat connects instructors with high-quality professionals. teaching kitsworkshop content and NVIDIA GPU-accelerated workstations in the cloud.

“It is always good to train our teachers and professors because, as mentors to our youth, they are in the best position to help shape students’ career paths,” Tong said.

By equipping educators across the state with the skills to leverage the latest AI technologies and NVIDIA GPUs, the initiative can prepare full-time students who are about to enter the workforce and train professionals who are expanding their skills through adult education or community college courses.

“We want to build a workforce of the future and also excite students and adults who are outside the workforce about the opportunities for the future,” said Stewart Knox, secretary of the California Workforce and Employment Development Agency.

State agencies are also exploring how internship and apprenticeship programs can give students hands-on experience with AI skills.

Strengthening efforts to reduce the digital divide
