Greetings, Travelers! As Genshin Impact approaches its fifth year, we’re excited to welcome Teyvat’s sixth major nation: Natlan, in the upcoming Patch 5.0 Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn, available on August 28! Known as the Nation of War or the Nation of Pyro, where Saurians have lived alongside humans since time immemorial, Natlan and its people are distinguished from other nations not only by their unique tribal traditions and natural environments, but also by their agility and unparalleled movement capabilities blessed by the power of Pyro. Today, we’ll be sharing some useful tips to help you explore this new region as a local or in Saurian form!
We would also like to invite all Travelers who have completed the Archon Quest: Act III Song of Dragon and Freedom prologue in Mondstadt to visit Natlan using an unlocked teleport point located at its entrance. Travelers who have reached Adventure Rank 28 or higher and have completed Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III A New Star Approaches in Liyue can progress to Archon Quests in Natlan without having to complete the prerequisite quests from other nations first.
Become a saurian
The dragons of Natlan are called Saurians, and are the product of long evolution and coexistence with humans. Located west of the Hadramaveth Desert in Sumeru, Natlan boasts a diverse landscape ranging from canyons and cliffs to flowing waters and hot springs, as well as dangerous volcanoes. Version 5.0 will offer the opportunity to meet three of the six local tribes – the Children of Echoes, the Canopy Scions, and the Spring Folk – and discover how their members navigate the rugged, difficult-to-traverse landscapes with their Saurians.
For reasons that remain unclear, Travelers cannot unlock the power of the Pyro element upon arriving in Natlan, but you will be able to temporarily transform into a Saurian by dwelling within them or their Spiritconce to roam around during your adventure!
The first saurian you can inhabit is a Tepetlisaurus. They are faithful companions taken in by the Children of Echoes, the tribe known for their expert miners and talented dancers within the canyon. Transforming into a Tepetlisaurus allows you to burrow underground and climb cliffs. By inhabiting a Yumkasaurus, you'll be able to zip through the air quickly, reach high places with ease, and experience for yourself why the Canopy Kindred who hang from sheer cliffs on ropes love these saurians as extreme sports enthusiasts. If you're close to the People of the Springs, a laid-back tribe who are known for their hot springs, try inhabiting the Koholasarus to take a dip in the water, hot springs, and even the Phlogiston streams that flow through the air.
Use a new resource
In the Nation of Pyro, the Pyro element can materialize as a unique resource known as Phlogiston. Phlogiston comes in different forms and can be used by locals as a completely new resource in movement or combat. Once you inhabit a Saurian, you may notice that your abilities will consume a separate Phlogiston bar located to the right of your Saurian form. Natlan characters also have a Phlogiston bar that appears above their HP bar. Throughout your journey, you may encounter Phlogiston, either as harvestable resources or useful tools such as the Spiritways of Flowing Phlogiston, which offer fast paths for Koholasarus and People of the Springs warriors to travel.
Natlan warriors can further enhance their skills through the ancient ritual of phlogiston engravings and thus gain the blessing of the Night Soul. Glowing patterns will appear on characters under the influence of the Night Soul's blessing, giving them an advantage in combat.
Team up with local warriors
As a Nation of War, Natlan has experienced countless crises and dangers in numerous battles in which both locals and Saurians have fought bravely. The Ancient Names of brave warriors are passed down through the generations to honor their legacy. In the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, each of the six tribes designates a Champion from among the greatest warriors in their ranks, and you will have the opportunity to recruit three of them from the Children of Echoes, the Canopy Scions, and the Folk of the Springs. Each of these Champions is distinguished by unique traits and abilities that reflect their tribe.
Our first companion for Natlan is Kachina, a four-star Geo polearm wielder of the Children of Echoes. Not only will we meet her early on in our journey, but we can even recruit her for free as a reward for completing Act I of Natlan’s Archon quest. Kachina can summon Turbo Twirly and ride it to scale walls and cliffs in daily exploration, and also unleash ground slam attacks to deal area-of-effect Geo damage in combat.
Renowned for his hunting skills among the Canopy Kindred, Kinich is a five-star Dendro Claymore warrior who wields the grappling hook with dexterity, allowing him to quickly swing through the air and easily reach great heights, or connect with enemies and perform Circular Shots to deal significant damage. Interestingly, Kinich is accompanied by the almighty Dragonlord, Ajaw, who is able to release dragon breaths at intervals to deal Dendro area-of-effect damage when Kinich casts his Elemental Burst.
If you're visiting the people of the springs, Mualani, a water sports equipment store owner and renowned local tour guide, is your ideal companion. A fan of water sports such as swimming, surfing, and beach volleyball, this five-star Hydro Catalyst wielder can ride her Sharky Surfboard and move quickly through water, liquid phlogiston, and flat terrain. In combat, while Mualani surfs on her Sharky Surfboard, she can mark enemies in her path and apply Sharky Bites to them, dealing increased Hydro damage after several hits.
All three of Natlan’s playable characters can locate and mark local specialties, benefiting their entire party as they interact with certain harvestable items: Kachina can restore stamina, Kinich can increase movement speed, and Mualani can restore phlogiston. In the Version 5.0 Event Wishes, Mualani and Kachina will debut in the first phase alongside a reprise of Kaedehara Kazuha, with Kinich’s debut coming with the Raiden Shogun in the later phase.
Try Tribal Chronicles
To further uncover the history and heroic tales of each tribe, the Reputation System returns to Natlan through Tribal Chronicles, a new three-act narrative quest series for each tribe that weaves together traditions, stories, and people and replaces Story Quests in Natlan. Visit each tribe’s Obsidian Totem to unlock their Tribal Chronicles, as well as their Rewards and Supply Notices. Completing these Tribal Chronicles not only provides a deeper, more immersive understanding of the customs and culture of the different tribes, but also grants Tribal Reputation XP and rewards for the corresponding tribe.
Additionally, World Quests, exciting stories, and Archon quests await you in Natlan with plenty of surprises and rewards. However, we’ll let Travelers explore all of this new content at their own pace. The Sacred Flame burns with an incandescent glow, igniting the hearts of the brave! We look forward to seeing you in-game when Genshin Impact Version 5.0 goes live on August 28!
