Quora's Poe now allows users to create and share web applications

Poe, Quora’s subscription-based cross-platform aggregator for AI-powered chatbots like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, has launched a feature called Previews that allows users to build interactive apps directly in chats with chatbots.

Previews allows Poe users to create data visualizations, games, and even drum machines by typing things like “Analyze the information in this report and turn it into an interactive, easy-to-digest presentation to help me understand it.” Apps can be built using more than one chatbot (e.g., Meta’s Llama 3 and GPT-4o) and are based on information from uploaded files, including videos, and can be shared with anyone via a link.

Previews are very similar to Anthropic’s recently introduced Artifacts, dedicated workspaces where users can edit and add AI-generated content such as code and documents. But Artifacts is limited to Anthropic’s models, while Previews supports HTML output (with CSS and Javascript functionality for now, with more to come, Quora promises) from any chatbot.

Quora says Previews works best with chatbots that “excel” at programming, such as Google’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4o, and Gemini 1.5 Pro.

This reporter was not able to test building an app with Previews, which requires paying $20 per month for Poe's premium plan. But few population around he Web —They are simple demos, albeit created by Poe's team— that work more or less as advertised.

Previews comes at a somewhat awkward time for Poe; an investigation of With cable Last month, Poe was found to be allowing users to download articles from news publications on demand that were behind a paywall. Wired claims it managed to obtain copies of articles from publishers including The New York Times and The Atlantic using Quora’s in-house Assistant chatbot.

Quora questioned—and still questions—whether he was wrong.
