NASA and the Hubble telescope have just released cool pictures of the Lagoon Nebula showing stars forming in clouds of dust and and on the right is an infrared image showing all the stars.

NASA information also indicates the Lagoon Nebula is about 5200 light years from Earth, and in 1654 was discovered by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodierna.

It is located in the Sagittarius constellation and even has its own star cluster – NGC 6530.

It is a really cool looking nebula and has a bright star in it named Herschel 36.

All together it is a really cool nebula and neat to see!
