THQ Nordic Showcase 2024 recap – PlayStation.Blog

Every year, the THQ Nordic team spends months creating a digital showcase we think you’ll love, packed with news about previously announced games and sneak peeks at what you can expect from our development teams in the future.

Variety defines what we do, and that’s never been more true than in our 2024 stream, which includes a gorgeous hand-drawn adventure, a fender-bender destruction racing sequel, the long-awaited return of a legendary action-adventure series, and so much more.

Goldman's Eternal Life

We open this year's broadcast with the debut of a new 2D platform-adventure game from Weappy Studio, developers behind This Is the Police.

As Goldman, trusty walking stick in hand, navigates a mysterious archipelago brought to life by carefully crafted 2D animation, every frame brims with the passion the team has injected into the game they've always wanted to make.

Weappy’s design philosophy is built on a sense of wonder and the freedom to experiment, and focuses on rewarding players for their curiosity about the world and platforming sections that are challenging but fair. The Eternal Life of Goldman invites you to discover the far reaches of the archipelago, and each new skill and artifact you find will add new dimensions to your gameplay.

We can't wait to tell you more later this year. For now, be sure to follow along and wishlist the game on PlayStation Store to be among the first to receive updates.

Disney Epic Mickey: Repaint

It’s almost time to pick up your paintbrush and decide the fate of Wasteland! When Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed launches on September 24, you’ll have the power to shape the world with paint and thinner in your hands.

Take control of Mickey Mouse in a 3D action platformer and explore a land filled with beloved characters to meet and secrets to discover, including classic side-scrolling levels inspired by the history of Mickey Mouse.

Rebuilt from the ground up by the team at Purple Lamp, and for the first time on PS5 and PS4, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a must-play for Disney fans of all ages, whether it’s your first adventure in the Wasteland or a trip down memory lane.

Shipwreck 2

Create the car of your dreams, show it off online and destroy it in the ultimate range of destructive events. Whether you want to go all out to be the first to cross the finish line, race through obstacle courses or crush your rivals in an all-out destruction derby, Wreckfest 2 lets you unleash the ultimate vehicular carnage.

The PS5 hardware has given the team at Bugbear Entertainment the freedom to model higher crash fidelity than ever before, with every impact to the chassis performed in real time.

At the end of each event, your beat-up vehicle will tell its own unique story: swapped paint, twisted steel, and grudges settled on the track.

Titan Quest II

Last year, we announced Titan Quest II with a trailer that set the stage for the battle against the rebel goddess Nemesis and her hordes. After millions of views and thousands of comments, we’re ready to show you more of the rich, verdant world the team at Grimlore Games has been hard at work bringing to life.

In our debut gameplay trailer, you’ll get your first look at the adventures that await you in the sun-drenched landscapes of Ancient Greece and the godly powers you’ll gain by taking your place among the greatest of legendary heroes. The team is hand-crafting an experience that encourages you to rise to the challenge, with epic battles against mythical beasts that reward players with unique loot that changes the way you play.

This is your story to tell, with deep customization options, from your hero’s appearance to their combination of a wide range of modifiable skills and equipment. Whether you choose to embark on this odyssey alone or with friends, Titan Quest II will take you on an unforgettable journey through a land unlike any other in the ARPG genre.

Remake of Gothic 1

Since we announced the development of Gothic 1 Remake in 2020, the support from Gothic fans around the world, as well as the RPG community at large, has been immense. Every positive feedback, every shout of “For Gomez!”, has strengthened the team at Alkimia Interactive in their work to deliver a game that is both a faithful love letter to the Gothic fandom and a welcoming experience full of wonder and new discoveries for newcomers.

In today’s trailer, we delve deeper into how Alkimia is creating a world that is an organism unto itself, with a thriving ecosystem and powerful factions vying for dominance – a world that seems to exist beyond the player, but is ripe for being shaped by their decisions.

The graphics and gameplay have also been completely rebuilt to modern standards, with more rewarding progression, more impactful combat, and diverse NPC routines and interactions.

Whether you join the mineral-rich Old Camp in alliance with the King, the New Camp planning to destroy the magical barrier surrounding the Valley of Mines, or the Brotherhood of the Sleeper placing their faith in a mysterious new deity, the dark world of Gothic 1 Remake will soon be yours to explore.

The Hunter's Way: Lintukoto Game Reserve

For the second year in a row, we're releasing DLC for Way of the Hunter on the same day as our digital showcase.

While last year we took the hunt to lush African grasslands, today’s release lets you explore a stunningly realized Scandinavian landscape, populated by lynx, arctic foxes and a variety of other unique wildlife, all with their own realistic behaviors.

Wander through vast, magical forests that shimmer in the gentle rain, vast, lush meadows, and snow-capped peaks that inspired folklore from ages past. With every quiet moment you spend in this fictional Scandinavian wilderness, lovingly sculpted by the team at Nine Rocks Games, your harmony with your surroundings increases.

Way of the Hunter: Lintukoto Reserve is now available on PS5.

A new tale from Tarsier Studios

From the creators of Little Nightmares I and II comes a completely new vision, unlike anything you've seen before.

Find out more at Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. PT/8:00 p.m. CET.

Of course, it wouldn't be the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase without one more thing to tempt you as we close out the stream…

The future of Darksiders

The ominous rumble of an incredibly ancient chamber. Searing ash suspended in the air, thrown up by boiling lava.

Three colossal stone heads, suddenly ignited with otherworldly flames. The charred Council awakens and roars a single word in unison: Rider.

We'll have more news to share soon about where the world of Darksiders is headed, but for now, know this… the Four Horsemen will ride again.

That’s it for the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2024! From all of us at THQ Nordic, as well as our developer partners spread across the globe, thank you so much for joining us. We look forward to sharing more with you about each of these titles in the near future and will see you in our digital worlds soon.
