We're so excited to share some great spring science experiments for kids today. As always, you don't need any special equipment, just things you already have at home or that you can buy easily and cheaply in a supermarket.
Spring is the perfect time of year to get out into the garden and learn about the weather, plants and animals, which is why these are the main theme of the collection.

Plant Experiments for Kids: Spring Science Experiments
The easiest way to learn about plants is to grow some! Spring is the perfect time to start growing fruits and vegetables in the garden.
What is germination?
Discover the conditions necessary for a seed to germinate (you may be surprised what they are) by growing a bean in a jar. This is a lovely visual way to learn about germination.
What's inside a flower?
If you look inside a flower, can you tell the male and female parts apart? Pollen (yellow or orange powder) is retained in the male parts (stamen – anther and filament), while the female part ( Carpel – stigma, style, ovary. ) contains the parts that will become seeds after pollination. Dissecting a flower It's a great way to learn about the structure and function of different bits.
Another idea is to make a 3d model of a flower. You can see that our model clearly shows the stamen and carpel.
Can a plant grow in the dark?
Grow one plant in the light and one in the dark. You should see that the plant in the dark does not grow as well and has yellow leaves. You can also demonstrate this with a multicolor. cress caterpillar.
How do plants transport water?
Discover how plants transport water through their stem with a capillary action research.
Early Years Plant Science
For younger children, you could set up a plant store to learn about plants. different parts of a flower. One child can play the role of the store owner and the other can play the role of a customer.
How do roots grow?
Plant a bulb in a clear container with stones and observe the root growth in this great Buggy and Buddy activity.

How fast does grass grow?
Find out how fast grass grows with these fun grass heads by Red Ted Art. Grass heads are brilliant as grass grows quickly and kids love cutting their hair!
Colorful flowers and perspiration.
Make some pretty flowers to learn perspiration. All you need for this activity is a flower with white petals like a carnation, food coloring, and water. The colored water rises up the stem until it reaches the petals, making them change color.

Make a edible butterfly life cycle. This is another visual activity that works with pasta, fruits and vegetables or sweets.

Spring weather activities
Spring can bring a lot of rain. TO A simple rain gauge is an easy way to record the amount of rain over a period of time.

Make your own pineapple weather station. Pine cones open when the weather is dry and close when it's wet!
Messy Spring Activities
How about some? paint with syringes? This is a great outdoor art activity, perfect for sunny spring days.
Create magic fairy or unicorn potions. If kids measure and weigh the ingredients first, these are great for practicing weighing and measuring.

Indoor Spring Science Experiments for Kids
Try some chromatography and use the filter papers to make butterflies with this lovely activity. Buggy and friend.
My Little Three and I have a beautiful spring sensory bottle.
Have sensory fun with this lovely smell. garden plasticine of the Tree of Imagination. Playdough is also a great material for learning about forces by stretching, pulling, and pushing.
Younger children will love our flower sensory tray. This is perfect for working on those important fine motor skills, learning about the parts of a flower, counting and recording data.
