DRDR, Frank is in the news: Capcom announces Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

In 2006, a freelance photojournalist named Frank West jumped from a helicopter into our hearts, on a lone mission to uncover the scoop behind the mysterious zombie plague ravaging Willamette, Colorado. Sure, he might have ended up trapped in a mall with a horde of undead for three days, but never underestimate Frank…He's covered wars, you know?. Soon, we'll relive Frank's best 72 hours again in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, announced by Capcom today.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster's trailer reveal doesn't leave us with many details, other than promising “an updated version with a completely new look.” It's a small part of the opening of the original game, showing Frank's helicopter ride as he approaches the now-legendary Willamette Parkview shopping center with updated footage. Frank looks phenomenal: Dead Rising 4 gave him an unforgivable action-hero visual overhaul, but DRDR is returning Frank West to his original everyman look. Frank West shouldn't seem like a heroic guy; Frank West has a horrible jacket and a progressive widow's peak.

Luckily, DRDR makes Frank look normal as hell, just like God intended. However, Dead Rising fans in the comments of the trailer are dismayed by how it sounds. While there's no official casting confirmation, the brief voice acting we heard in the trailer has convinced some that TJ Rotolo, Frank's English voice actor until Dead Rising 4, will not be reclaiming the role for the remaster. . While it hurts my heart to know that I may not hear the Frank of my youth sigh in relief after drinking orange juice for my health, I will have to find a way to continue.

The trailer doesn't provide a release window or when we can expect more details about Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, so we can only speculate on whether it will update anything beyond the graphics. However, seeing the dilapidated shops and walkways of the Willamette Mall in current visual fidelity is more than enough for me. As long as I can continue using a servbot head As long as I hit the zombies with a 2×4, I'll be happy.
