The emission nebula IC 1396 in Monoceros features a prominent dust plume known as the Elephant Trunk Nebula, many light-years across. This image represents over 32 hours of exposure with a 14-inch f/11 telescope using SHO filters, plus nearly 7 hours in RGB. The narrowband data were processed with a Foraxx dynamic palette, which uses a non-linear combination of color channels.
