WR 134 in Cygnus is one of the earliest known Wolf-Rayet stars, a class of rare stars named after their discoverers, French astronomers Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet. WR stars were originally distinguished by their broad emission bands. Researchers later discovered that they resulted from intense stellar winds, which can form nebulae like the one seen here. This image was taken over 24¾ hours using a Ha/OIII dual-band filter and an 8-inch telescope at f/7.3.
