Wordle gives you six rows of five squares each day, and your job is to determine which five-letter word is hidden by removing or confirming the letters it contains.

Starting with a strong word like LEASH, something that contains several vowels, common consonants, and non-repeating letters, is a good place to start. Once you press Enter, the boxes will show you which letters you have right or wrong. If a box turns ⬛️, it means that letter is not in the secret word at all. 🟨 means that the letter is in the word, but not in that position. 🟩 means you have the right letter in the right place.

Your second attempt should complement the initial word, using another “good” guess to cover any common letters you missed last time while also trying to avoid any letters that you now know for sure are not present in today's answer. After that, it's just a matter of using what you've learned to narrow your guesses to the correct word. You have six attempts in total and you can only use real words (so don't fill in the boxes with EEEEE to see if there is an E). Don't forget that letters can also be repeated (for example, BOOKS).

Wordle was originally devised by a software engineer. Josh Wardle, as a surprise for your pun-loving partner. From there it spread to her family and finally became public. Since then, the word puzzle game has inspired tons of games like Wordle, refocusing the daily trick around music, mathematics or geography. It wasn't long before Wordle became so popular that sold to the New York Times for seven figures. Surely it is only a matter of time before we all communicate solely in tricolor boxes.
