More unofficial information has surfaced regarding the upcoming AMD Ryzen AI Max 300 (Strix Halo) APU following earlier leaks claiming that Upcoming chips would use powerful RDNA 3.5 iGPUsOf course, despite being unfounded, these rumors should come as no surprise, as the Strix Halo processors (along with the Fire Range) are supposedly “It is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.” And since the leaker providing these latest details is quite well-known, it lends even more credibility to these still unconfirmed details.
According to a Weibo post by the leaker Golden Pig Upgrade PackAMD is reportedly planning to launch its Strix Halo processors in three SKUs:
- Ryzen AI Max 395 (16 cores/40 cores)
- Ryzen AI Max 390 (12 cores/40 cores)
- Ryzen AI Max 385 (8 cores/32 cores)
AMD Strix Halo APUs can reportedly allocate up to 96GB of VRAM
They also claimed that the Strix Halo processors can allocate “up to 96GB of memory” as VRAM, so laptops equipped with these APUs could potentially match and even surpass the graphics capabilities of low- to mid-range machines. But of course, a laptop, no matter how beefy, can’t really replace the processing and computing power of a full desktop setup, especially if you plan on constantly using it for intensive tasks like video editing, animation, 4K gaming, etc.
As always, though, you'll have to take all of these details with a grain of salt, as AMD hasn't confirmed anything at the time of writing.
