Are the RTX 5090 and 5080 designs on the finishing line?

There have been a lot of rumors about NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. Thanks to Shelf lifeWe now have some new information about the cards and their power consumption/heating. While NVIDIA hasn't made their specs official, we can expect anything to happen.

RTX 5090 and RTX 5080: lower power consumption after all?

NVIDIA RTX 50

According to information provided by Copy7KimiThe RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are expected to consume 600W and 450W respectively… But things are turning out to be more complex than initially anticipated.

Once again, one must be careful, as these are only rumors. However, although the chameleon's partners, the famous AIB (Supplementary board), have not yet received any information from NVIDIA, but have already started working on cooling systems. Rumor has it that the 400W cooling system has been cancelled or discontinued, while development of a 600W system is still underway.

Finally, Benchlife indicates that it's not impossible that the 5090 and 5080 will have massive heatsinks capable of cooling 600W of TGP, while the cards themselves will consume 550W and 350W respectively. These figures correspond to increases of 22% and 9.3% compared to the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080.

These are just rumors. The feeling is that nobody knows much about the subject, or that there is a lot of room for interpretation… And let's not forget Nvidia's ability to leak information to cover its tracks.

RTX 5090D and RTX 5080D coming to China in September?

RTX 4090 D

While the “real” cards are expected to be made official for the Western world at CES next January, China could receive its Blackwell cards early. According to Benchlife, the RTX 5090D and RTX 5080D could arrive as early as September.

As a reminder, D versions are intended for markets sanctioned by the United States, including China. The aim is to offer hardware with limited features so that it can be exported.

If NVIDIA proceeds in the same way as with its RTX 4090DWe should have cards limited in terms of their technical characteristics, perhaps much more severely than the 4090D. In any case, this would mean a very early launch, so we will stay tuned for more information!
