Every 13 to 15 years, Earth passes through the plane of Saturn's rings, causing them to nearly disappear. This sequence of images taken over the past decade shows how the tilt of Saturn's rings toward us has decreased. The next ring plane crossing will occur in March 2025, although Saturn will be too close to the Sun (just 10° away) for ideal viewing.
