Today’s game started with two very helpful green letters, followed by a trio of grey ones. No problem, I thought, I’ve got a start, I just need to find the end. Unfortunately for me, those two letters were able to head in all sorts of crazy directions, so it took me longer than I would have liked to find Tuesday’s answer, and I may have panicked a little when I realized I was missing a letter toward the end of the board.

It's usually a good plan Start with a strong word Much like ALERT (or any other word with a good mix of common consonants and multiple vowels), you should be off to a good start, at least with a little luck. You should also avoid starting words with repeated letters, so you don't miss the chance to confirm or delete an extra letter. Once you hit Enter, you'll see which letters you got right or wrong. If a box turns into a ⬛️, it means that letter isn't in the secret word. 🟨 means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. 🟩 means you have the right letter in the right place.

Your second guess should complement the first, using another “good” word to cover any common letters you may have missed in the first row – just don’t forget to leave out any letters you now know for sure aren’t present in today’s answer. After that, it’s just a matter of using what you’ve learned to narrow down your guesses to the correct word. You have six attempts in total, and you can only use real words – and don’t forget that letters can be repeated, too (e.g. BOOKS).
