Towards a Ryzen 7 8745HS, but without NPU?

AMD is said to be working on a new processor called the Ryzen 7 8745HS. This new model would have the same specs as the Ryzen 7 8845HS, but with one less component: the NPU.

Ryzen 7 8745HS: an 8845HS, but without NPU!

The device features a CPU with a total of 8 cores and 16 threads. Naturally, this is a processor with Zen 4 cores, which can reach a maximum frequency of 5.1 GHz. This model should also boast a configurable TDP of 35 to 54 W.

Finally, we will find a graphics unit based on 12 computing units and RDNA3 generation. Basically, we are talking about the famous RADEON 780M that we can find almost everywhere.

Of course, the absence of an NPU means that this processor is intended for everyday use, such as office work, light gaming, etc. It is worth remembering that its counterpart, the Ryzen 7 8845HS, features an XDNA NPU with 16 TOPS of power. While this is always appreciated, it is not enough to qualify as a Copilot PC. Recall that to obtain Microsoft's IA PC certification, the CPU must be equipped with an NPU that displays at least 40 TOPS of computing power, which will be the case for the next generation of processors.

Finally, we can expect the launch price to be lower than its NPU-equipped counterpart. By how much remains to be seen, as its success could be greatly affected by the size of the bill.
