Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion has only been out for a few days and one of its new jobs is already being fine-tuned

Dawn Trailthe latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIVhas only been officially out for three days, arriving earlier this week after a brief early access launch. Despite its story and 10 additional levels spanning dozens of hours of playtime, that’s apparently been enough time for players to complain enough about one of the expansion’s new jobs — so much so that Square Enix has already announced a set of changes planned for the game’s next batch of patches.

in a blog entry Also revealing that the launch of Dawntrail saw the MMO reach its highest number of concurrent players since the launch of the base game A Realm Reborn over a decade ago, director Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida detailed several fixes and changes planned for multiple classes from Patch 7.01 onwards.

The main changes will affect the Viper, the The dual-wielding class was introduced in DawntrailPlayers have spent enough time with the new job to raise concerns about the ability rotation being too “busy,” leading to plans to reduce the demand for directional requirements and adjust the effect of various actions. Most of that reduced “busyness” will arrive with Patch 7.05, Yoshida said, though there will be some adjustments to the range of some actions in the next patch.

Dawntrail's other new work, the artistic wizard pictomancerInstead, a minor bug fix will be added that resolves the issue where effects for the Subtractive Palette, Aetherhues, and Aetherhues II can be manually disabled by players, which will be included in 7.01.

An older job in need of some fixes is the Monk, which will look to address what Yoshida called “inadequate performance” caused by incorrect powers for some actions and an issue with the Fury status stacking, both of which were accidentally introduced as part of broader changes to the Monk’s basic attacks in 7.0 that the producer said “significantly changed the feel of playing the job.” The upcoming patch will help improve area-of-effect attacks again, with “minor tweaks” to the Monk’s HUD as a result.

The Astrologian job, meanwhile, has apparently received “considerable feedback” from players about its difficulty to use during burst damage phases of battles, which will be addressed by modifying the cooldown of Speed of Light and making it a charged action, as well as reducing the cooldown of the job's steal actions. The level 90 Macrocosm action will also see its potency tweaked.

Similarly, the Samurai will see some reset timers shortened (for Tendo Setsugekka and Tendo Kaeshi Setsugekka, specifically), while the Red Mage will see the duration of Manifestation's effect lengthened. Black Mages struggling to recover MP without the Umbral Soul action should also find it easier starting next patch, as other attack potencies will be adjusted in 7.05.

Tanks in general will also be undergoing changes, as players have expressed that remaining targeted by enemies using Enmity has become difficult due to high-damage attacks from other jobs, which became particularly difficult for Dark Knight and Gunbreaker characters, who have had damage removed from their movement skills. Those movement skills will have increased Enmity effects added in 7.01, and additional Enmity will also be added to area-of-effect attacks.

The changes will be implemented in upcoming patches, and Yoshida also assured that “several issues that may have affected your overall experience” as well as complaints about the work will also be resolved as soon as possible. Otherwise, Dawntrail’s implementation seems to have gone much smoother than the multi-hour queues that plagued previous expansions. Walker of the endpartly thanks to some shiny new servers and others Measures to relieve congestion launched before launch.
