Hardware and software work together in a very delicate balance. That said, software greatly affects how hardware works, and no software is 100% bug-free. That means that with every update or patch, your hardware might work better, or even the same, or even stop working altogether, and then you have to wait for an urgent fix to be implemented.

This happens for a number of reasons, but the most frustrating situation is when your device doesn't work as expected, but the software update works perfectly fine for others. That's what happened to some users with the latest version of Android. ROG Ally Armory Crate Update.

White Screen of Death on ROG Ally: Possible Solutions

A recent Post on the r/ROGAllyX subreddit by u/wesker789 They claimed they had updated Armory Crate and the BIOS and left it there for a couple of minutes. However, when they came back, the screen was frozen in bright white.

They tried the old method of turning it off and on again, which caused the BIOS to update and the problem seemingly went away almost completely, but the edge of the screen has a white tint around the edges. Comments suggested that other people have experienced this problem as well, with one comment saying:

“I've seen 3 people with this problem since the updates – one person went back to normal after a couple hours of use, another person died completely a few hours later… The other one is you

It doesn't seem too serious, so it might go away after a few hours – repeatedly play a YouTube pixel refresh video.”

We also noticed that even a system restore apparently didn't fix the problem. Post on r/ROGAlly He also claimed the same, along with a bunch of other fixes including using a pixel updater, rolling back drivers, changing settings, or even reinstalling Windows.

On the plus side, ASUS is said to be following up with people and offering to replace or repair affected units. However, we haven't found any official statement from ASUS stating that, but if your ROG Ally is under warranty, you can try to contact us. ASUS Support to clarify.

Also, a screenshot of a comment from user @bwbmoreb on CPPC TEK YouTube video on this matter There was an article posted stating that the solution was to turn the color march on and off and that worked for them. So if you've tried all the other solutions, try this one as well as it might fix the problem.

So, to summarize, here is a complete list of possible solutions.

  • Update BIOS
  • Use a pixel upgrade video on YouTube
  • Roll back drivers and version of Armory Crate
  • Reinstall Windows
  • Go to Display settings > Turn color shifting on and off

Unfortunately, nothing seems to be 100% consistent based on what we know so far, but it's at least worth testing them out before turning to ASUS directly.
