LETSHUOER LR Nebula Review

Summary

The LETSHUOER LR-Nebula stands out as a decent copper cable designed to enrich the bass and mid frequencies. With some IEMs I paired the cable with, I found the synergy to be quite good, showing potential performance when upgrading from a stock cable.

Advantages

Decent bass and midrange coloration

Light and simplistic design

Nice packaging and inclusion of case.

Cons

Rigid ear hook

Does not have a modular jack option

The LETSHUOER LR-Nebula aftermarket IEM cable is one of the brand's first new releases coming in 2024 along with the cadence4.

The brand has a few cables in its portfolio, including a cheaper copper cable. However, the new LR-Nebula cable has several technical features that, in my opinion, make it a good updated cable proposal for those on a tighter budget.

Priced at $165, the LR-Nebula is a configuration of their previous basic M3 cable with a similar copper cable option. However, with improved geometry and improved finish quality, it deserves its higher price.

Characteristics

The LR-Nebula cable is a 6-core cable, each of which is composed of 10 0.08 mm wide 6N high-purity monocrystalline copper wires. There is no AWG size specifically mentioned, but the wire gauge of this cable is thinner, making it quite flexible.

The cable employs a unique balanced pairing design, with one positive core and two negative cores, effectively filtering RF noise. This design not only increases conductivity but also minimizes transmission loss.

The cable employs a proprietary blend of silver-infused solder with a low melting point. This ensures a robust physical connection and minimizes signal loss during transmission.

The cable is finished with 0.78mm 2-pin connectors with options for 3.5mm SE or 4.4mm balanced plugs with high quality 5μ gold-plated layer internal soldering.

Design

The LR-Nebula cable has a simplistic design. With its soft texture and excellent flexibility, handling is quite simple. The weight is quite light, which makes it easier to use for longer sessions. It doesn't tangle much and can be easily detangled.

The outer cover has a soft touch. The internal copper wires have a shiny appearance and are properly twisted to provide an overall rich appearance. The twisting of the 2 cables is very uniform and there are no visible gaps throughout the cable.

The divider has a very nice design. The shape and size are normal and the weight is very light. The brand name is engraved in white on the divider.

The 2-pin connectors are polished the same silver as the splitter and terminal plug. To distinguish between the left and right sides, there is a thick circle of blue and red colors on the connectors.

The terminal connector is slightly short, quite light and is polished silver. The inclusion of a modular plug would have been a very nice addition, given the price of the cable. LETSHUOER has been releasing IEMs with modular cables, offering the three options of 4.4mm, 2.5mm and 3.5mm.

Driving

The cable is light and therefore easier to manipulate. Stiffness is almost negligible on this cable and it is quite easy to coil and store inside the case. The twists are close to each other, which gives the cable a better weave.

Fitting the cable over the ear is a tricky part. The cable has a soft steel memory ear hook, which is supposed to provide a firm structure to the cable when placed over the ear.

On most cables, this is achieved by having a thicker sleeve, which maintains its shape while the cable is in your ear. However, the addition of an additional steel wire introduces rigidity, which compromises flexibility when worn over the ear.

Adjustments are required when switching to different IEMs. While it doesn't hinder usability, this approach is not the most optimal for sure.

The lightweight cable design adds no extra strain or unwanted pressure on your ears due to its weight. Furthermore, the absence of noise from cables or microphones ensures a good and relaxed listening experience.

Packaging and accessories

This is one department where LETSHUOER does not disappoint. The packaging has a premium feel but still feels familiar with the elements the brand carries from launch to launch.

The LR-Nebula cable comes in a small rectangular box. The outer packaging has a representation of the night sky, glowing with the soft glow of stars against a background of deep darkness.

Removing the outer cover gives you the actual box, which contains the case and cable. The case has a matte finish and the brand name is boldly engraved on the top.

Upon opening the box, one receives the instruction manual and warranty card packaged in a paper sleeve. The back case fits perfectly into the case in a foam cutout. There is a small space to help remove the case. The cable is placed inside the box.

The case is the same as the one that comes with the Cadenza4 IEM. It has a nice matte finish both outside and inside. The brand logo is engraved on the top. The case is spacious enough to fit the cable with IEM.

Performance and impressions

The following sound impressions of the LR-Nebula cable were completed using LETSHUOER Cadenza4 and T15 and Kinera Imperial URD along with my main source, Lotoo's Golden touch of the paw.

Summary

The LR-Nebula cable exhibits the essence of a traditional copper cable. It enriches the lower frequencies, giving them greater depth and character.

The midrange also improves with some added richness. Overall resolution and clarity in the midrange is better with this cable. There are some notable improvements in imaging and separation on some IEMs.

Doorbell

The most notable change that the cable brings is in the lower region. It adds quite a bit of richness to the bass, especially the sub-bass. The subwoofer has a deeper reach, with some added weight.

In the mid-bass region, along with the addition of slam and some punch, it brings a subtle refinement to the texture and also the layers. The overall bass definition is richer and more pleasant.

The midrange has a better feeling of clarity and resolution. The lower mids are richer and have better weight. The vocals are richer and softer with more sweetness in the wood, especially in the female voices.

In the treble region, it remains uncolored or true to the sound signature of the paired IEM.

Staging and images

The LR-Nebula cable has a positive effect on staging. While the width remains almost the same as before, the depth improves.

There is a significant improvement in the separation and layering of instruments and vocals. Imaging from my tested IEMs also benefits from the cable with more precise spatiality of the instruments.
