Steam Deck users are switching to ROG Ally X and apparently loving it

The Steam Deck has been the shining beacon in the portable gaming market for some time now, however, changes to the increasingly popular ROG Ally series have seen ASUS’ latest variant become more popular among portable gamers.

He handheld game console The handheld console market has seen a huge expansion in recent years, with almost every major brand trying to grab a slice of the handheld console pie. Of the current range, the Steam Deck is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after options, offering excellent gaming performance, great emulation potential, and a variety of options spanning numerous price ranges.

However, ASUS’ continued efforts in the wearable space have seen several iterations of its ROG Ally series come to life, with the most recent one offering some impressive new features that are making Steam Deck gamers’ heads turn.

That's right, Valve could be facing some serious competition with the ROG Ally X, especially if the positive buzz surrounding the ROG Ally X from Steam Deck users continues to grow.

Steam Deck users praise ROG Ally X's performance on Reddit

In a recent Reddit postSeveral Valve Steam Deck converts to the new ROG Ally X are sharing their thoughts on the new console, making claims like “this is a game-changer for me” and “it feels so good to be back with the power of the Ally.”

All this is the result of a rather… A mix of early reviews from top-tier publications, some of which claim the ROG Ally X is the best portable gaming console on the market, while others still can't get over the clunky Windows interface.

That being said, there seem to be many positives when comparing the From Steam Deck to ROG Ally Xand many converts enjoy some of the new features the X offers.

One Redditor who upgraded from the Ally Z1E to the Deck OLED and now the Ally X says, “It feels so good to have the power of the Ally again and the full control I have over my game library and more with Windows.”

It’s interesting to see the community at large discussing some of the features that were pointed out by reviewers, as it gives us a real sense of what real-world consumers prioritize in their gaming experience. Overall, I think it’s safe to say that ASUS’ ROG Ally X is closing the gap between ASUS and Valve. Whether or not the recent updates to the latest version are enough for it to compete with the Steam Deck remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: ASUS seems to be getting closer and closer with each passing variation.
