“The Space Foundation is excited to partner with ICESCO and AOAD on a certificate program designed to provide college students with introductory knowledge in remote sensing. The knowledge and skills acquired through this course will enable students to leverage advances in the space industry to drive agricultural development,” he said. Bobby GagnonDirector of Education at the Space Foundation.

Led by experts from the Space Foundation and Denver International Airport, the program will be taught to 100 first- and second-year college students in North Africa and the Middle East. The program covers various aspects of geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing, beginning with an overview of GIS and its potential applications, including a virtual tour of the Space Foundation Discovery CenterRemote sensing is then explored throughout the solar system and moves on to robotic technology, with a focus on CubeSats. Advanced training in ArcGIS includes basic concepts, dataset management, and applications in different regions. The course concludes with a career exploration in space entrepreneurship and business development.

“The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) believes in excellence and supporting the youth of its member states. We are delighted to announce the launch of our new joint certification program, COSMOS to Earth, in collaboration with the Space Foundation and the Arab Agricultural Development Organization. This innovative program aims to bridge the gap between space science and Earth-based applications, fostering sustainable development and scientific advancement. By combining the expertise of ICESCO, the Space Foundation and AOAD, we are creating unique opportunities for education, research and practical implementation that will benefit our common member countries,” said Dr. Sharif Muhammad, Science and Technology Advisor at ICESCO.

“A hundred enthusiastic young knowledge explorers from the Arab states have embarked on an extraordinary journey from Earth to Cosmos with the Space Foundation’s virtual space. In a nearly three-month journey through the cyber sphere of space knowledge, they will explore valuable applications of space for sustainable development. They will study the use of remote sensing and geomatics in agriculture and climate and environmental conservation. This partnership between the Arab Agricultural Development Organization and ICESCO with the Space Foundation is a sincere joint effort and a friendship that transcends nations and continents,” said Dr. Osama Rayis, President of Agribusiness at the Arab Agricultural Development Organization.
