Awesome Science Tricks: Science and Magic Experiments for Kids

Here at Science Sparks HQ, we love a bit of magic, whether it's a memory trick, sleight of hand, or even something magic of science. These 10 easy science tricks for kids They are a lot of fun and mostly super simple. The density one is a little complicated and potentially messy, but the incredible end result is worth the effort.

Easy Scientific Magic Tricks

Click through a balloon

First is the puncture through a balloon trick. Be careful with this one, as the skewer will be sharp and it may be worth having a few spare balloons until you get the hang of it.

Better advice – Place a little vegetable oil on the parts of the balloon that the skewer will pass through and push the skewer through the thickest parts of the balloon.

Leak proof bag

Impress your friends with a easy leak proof bag. All you need for this one is a resealable sandwich bag and some super sharp pencils.

Better advice – use very sharp pencils.

make a coin disappear

Did you know that you can make a coin disappear Using just a glass and water?

Remove the shell from an egg without touching it!

If, after all that, you STILL have an intact egg membrane, try doing the shrinking the egg and then grow it again while learning about osmosis at the same time.

How to defy gravity

Did you know that you can Defy gravity Using a magnet and a clip? This clever trick is sure to wow the audience!

Better advice – a strong magnet works best for this.

Always supervise children when using magnets.

Egg in a bottle experiment

Flowers that change color

Bored of white petals? Place them in water and food coloring to change the color!

Better advice – Natural food coloring is not suitable for this.

Water that doesn't mix

Do you know why the colored water doesn't mix with the uncolored water in the image below? It's a little density trick. Add a lot of salt to the bottom layer (making it denser) so that the less dense water on top doesn't mix with the denser colored bottom layer.

Two pint glasses balanced on top of each other.  One is filled with clear water and the other with water colored blue by salt.  the two do not mix since the salt makes the water in the glass below denser than that in the glass above.

Top tip: This also works with cold and warm water. Warm water is less dense than cold water.

Floating eggs and sinking lemons

Try to make a egg float or a lemon sink? It may be more complicated than you think.

Better advice – Remove the skin to make a lemon sink!

Transforming milk and cream

Finally, how about we turn? milk in glue? EITHER cream in butter?

Chills a drink in 3 minutes

Cools a drink to room temperature in 3 minutes Using ice, salt and water! This is a great trick for a hot day. The same science is used to make ice cream in a bag.

Adult supervision is needed for this trick.
